Why is my own module not showing up in the module manager?

I'm trying to create my own module, it seems to be nothing complicated. However, it doesn't show up in the module manager - what could be the reason?

As an option - the files are created, but the module is not installed through the admin panel.
You need to create an installation archive (as expected in Joomla) and install the module through the extension manager.

In the menu: Extensions -> Extension Manager -> Find . The search finds it, if everything is fine with the xml file of the module, install it and then it will become available in the module creation list.
