Why is magento not working?

I wanted to try magento, I downloaded the archive and uploaded it to the LAN (unpacked it), but it doesn’t even start, it’s just error 500
that’s the first time I see that even the installer doesn’t twitch, and I haven’t managed to break anything yet

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)

judging by the documentation it does not support all versions of php

the logs are empty... just doesn't want to work and that's all error 500

where do you see the logs?
what url do you go to? ( yourmagentohost.loc/setup/)
error 500 - as you understand, this is a server error, not a browser error (i.e. the browser does not play a role here at all)
