Why is LibreOffice Calc under Ubuntu 100 times slower than Microsoft Excel under Windows?
I'm trying to open an .xlsx file with LibreOffice Calc which was created in Excel. The file is 26mb.
It opens for a very long time and after opening it hangs very strongly when moving the slider up and down.
I tried to wait, I thought it would be cached (well, you never know) and then it will fly like in Excel, but nothing happened. I tried to save to my computer, as a result, LibreOffice made the file size from 26.6 mb --> 20 mb, but the problem remained.
Why is this happening and can it be solved? Advise a working alternative.

Lacks optimization. Obviously Libre is not MS.
If the file is just a database, then use the database for storage.
Try saving to ODS.
There is something wrong with your file, since the normal working size is 4..5 megabytes.
1. Turn on QuickStart, if the bootloaders did not open it - this will load part of the office into memory, turn off auto-update checks
2. 26Mb - the file is too big for the table. Yes, I've seen hundred megabyte tables...crashing on any failed save. Hedgehogs cried, pricked, but s/ate cactus/worked in a table instead of a database/g Try resaving in ODS if there are no complex formulas, diagrams, super-duper wrapped macros
3. Perhaps the file is trying to pull up external data. Check and disable if not critical
Non-native format.
Why does it have to be as fast as native for MS products???????????????????????????
The file is too big for normal. Check that the file does not contain infinite ranges of empty cells (both vertically and horizontally) with the given styles. If there are any, their content and styles should be cleared and deleted.
I can joke that in such a case, Steve Jobs abandoned Adobe Flash on iPhones)
If the case: two options:
to the above:
1 Try WPS Office
2. Excel 2003 works well through wine. It seems there are standalone versions (without installing the whole office, etc.) when it works directly from a folder.
