Why is it better to use the MVP design pattern when developing a client?

More and more often I see the MVP design pattern, but I can’t understand its fundamental difference from MVC, why is it gaining popularity and what are the advantages of its differences?
Sorry for the possibly stupid question.

pure mvc is very problematic on android, and to sow even more doubts, I recommend looking towards mvvm;)
