Because the new one did not bring anything new, except for nice little tabiks. How he ate memory and eats. And the rest everything works.
3.6 is the only stable version that more or less lives with the firebug.
Because the whole world is accustomed to the fact that new versions of products are thrown into the market raw and subsequently refined. Everyone was accustomed to this commercial products.
That's what everyone is waiting for.
However, in relation to Firefox 4.x, this approach is not correct. For example, Firefox 3.6 doesn't handle the Facebook API (js) correctly and therefore doesn't always know how to click the Like button. But Firefox 4.0 already knows how.
In a word, the engine has improved a lot, and the button to reload the page has been moved from the little things. However, for most users, the Reload button turned out to be a more significant change, pushing them away from the new version (or in general, the similarity of the placement of this button on IE9 and Safari simply offended them).
My kaspersky password manager does not work with new versions of browsers and this applies not only to FF but also to Chrome ... HORROR! WOULD KILL NAH! PI… RACE WRITED TO THEM IN SUPPORT PZDTS! A company that has a reputation for being the best antivirus can't update some CRAZY PLUG!!! AAAAAAAA!!!111111
Gears does not work on new versions. For our intranet project is very important.
because it's bad when you update the version and half of your plugins crash.
Simple inhabitants, which are the majority, absolutely do not care under which browser (its version) to sit. If the browser auto-update option is not enabled, then some people manage to sit on the same version for years. Some, however, know that new versions of their browser are coming out, in which there are n-th number of improvements, but they are just too lazy to do such a “routine” as updating.
So it's no surprise that Firefox 3.6 is still so popular. Although I have nothing against him, already Pts. I sit on Firefox for a long time and use the auto-update option to use only the latest versions of my favorite browser ;)
Mozilla just switched to a new version numbering scheme. If I'm not mistaken, then once every half a year a new major version will be released. And externally, versions 3.5, 4 and 5 differ slightly, if at all.
Gradually updated...
Because it's the only one in the entire series that almost never crashes.
with version 3 it became massive, and then 3.6.
it began to be used in the enterprise as the main browser: there were opportunities for deployment to workplaces and management through GPU objects.
Switching to version 5, because. 4th (by the standards of the enterprise) did not exist until it happens, because Enterprise is still testing.
Well, many have auto-update turned off, many more are afraid to update, because. “something can fly off”, someone is “used to” or just not up to it, well, and a certain percentage are corporate, non-updatable installations.
I think it's because corporate users have a centralized update and I can't afford to roll out a new browser release every month without testing.
No matter what people come up with to justify themselves. And I see two problems with new versions: the interface, to restore a more or less familiar look of which you need to take additional gestures, and plug-ins that do not keep up with the browser.
FF has entered the race of major releases for the sake of releases, many simply do not see any reason to constantly update versions of ff, which also do not shine with stability.
