Why is DLE popular?

I see a lot of sites, and multifunctional ones, on DLE.
Why this CMS, and not WP, , Modx or (understandably expensive) or even self-writing?
What attracts her?
I never met her. Should I learn or continue to sit on WP?
What everyone keeps saying that there are warezniks, it’s not. I don't visit them. That's exactly what very good sites are found on DLE. The topic of warez is not even close.
