Why is .bash_history added to .gitignore not being ignored?

I added the line .bash_history to .gitignore, but it still tries to get into the commit, its status is monitored, in short it is not ignored. All other files and folders added to .gitignore are normally ignored, only with this "ugly duckling" problem.
