Hello. I understand WordPress and quite often I come across the statement that acf is evil. Please tell us what exactly is wrong with it, why it should not be used, and what are the most convenient alternatives for solving problems with custom fields.

Never heard of it. ACF is indispensable when you want to make life easier for the site editor.

You know, all you have to do is google any plugin or technology stack and add the word "evil" and you'll find tons of information about better plugins and so on. You might as well say that WordPress is evil, and you can't go wrong.
Simply put, it all depends on the end goal that you want to achieve, and here the question arises of the appropriateness of using one or another plugin or technology stack, frameworks, etc.
ACF is no more evil than visual editors that constantly crash, load a bunch of scripts and styles, and so on. But if the end user needs to edit the content himself, then it is clear that you will not advise him to go into the code or create custom fields and display them in the template, but most likely install a visa. editor or write the necessary functionality for Gutenberg. Well, if you don't like ACF, then you can take a closer look at Carbon Fields. But I have already implemented a lot of projects using ACF Pro and have not observed any problems.
