Why is 2 new records being created?

Game written in node js. When a player connects for the first time, several entries will be created (usually 2). Previously, as a solution, I set SetTimeout()it for one second and wrapped the code for adding to the database with it, the problem seems to have disappeared. But now the activity has increased and this story is repeating itself again.
