Why haven't digital sound sources been invented?

TV screens have replaced analog ray tubes with digital displays. Similarly, video, photo camera. Why didn't this happen with loudspeakers and why are analog speakers still used today?

Error in judgment. Displays are still "analogue" in the sense of transmitting light to the eye, and digital is only an interface between the PC and the display. It is possible to make a digital audio transmission from the PC to the speakers, but then the DAC must be inside the speaker, and not inside the PC (sound card).
