Why don't video players from the Mac App Store use a GPU?

Why can't App Store players play 720p H.264 properly on an i5 Ivy Bridge running OS X 10.10.2? Here are the power consumption results in Activity Monitor:
Total Video Player: 120
Elmedia Player: 66
Wondershare Player: 64
Rocket Video Player: 54
SupremePlayer Lite: 54
SPlayerX: 47
Super Player Lite: 43
Same video in other players:
VLC: 17
QuickTime Player: 6
Are these some new restrictions of the store or just a hack by the developers?
Update:
Elmedia Player and Total Video Player support said that they can add support in the next releases.

@RicoX

https://itunes.apple.com/ru/app/movist/id461788075... - plays great, KODI too, maybe you just have no luck with the tested players.

So maybe it's just worth using VLC in that case?
