Why don't shortcuts work when changing the layout in Linux?
Hello!
I often come across a situation where shortcuts stop working when changing the keyboard layout to Cyrillic. This is usually observed in various programs (not in all).
For example, in Sublime Text 3, when changing the layout, all shortcuts stop working
(ctrl + g, ctrl + a, ctrl + c and many others)
The same problem is observed in the Linux application menu (in the search bar), as well as in some other programs.
Why does this problem occur and how to fix it at once?
PS I use Linux Mint 19 Tara Cinnamon (However, a similar problem was observed in LMDE3)

Because in Linux, the keyboard and layouts work a little differently (as it happened historically) and you need to assign your own shortcut to each layout.
Since the processing of shortcuts lies with the application, it is not possible to eliminate it at once - only prescribe it with your hands.
This problem has been observed in Ubuntu and derivative distributions for a very long time. Mainly in java applications.
What have I not tried! There are tons of tips on google.
As a result, only one thing helped - set the default to English and make the layout global.
After that everything works.
