Why don't remapped keys work in the terminal?

Remapped several keys through xmodmap. Everywhere except the terminal they work. Added a script to /etc/init.d/, although it still doesn't work even in other places - you still have to run the script manually every time you log in. What is the problem?
The upd script also added /home/$user/.config/autostart . All the same, it does not work either in the terminal, or anywhere else, you have to start listening again at each entrance.
