Why doesn't the jQuery script work on the new version?

Good day. The essence of the issue is in the image loading plugin on Jquery https://github.com/marwenhlaoui/LoadImg
It only works on the old v.1.xx version of JQuery, on the latest 3.xx it refuses to work. I'm not an expert in jQuery, so I'm asking for help from those who know what to change to make it work.
