Why doesn't Sphinx work in Ruby on Rails?

Sphinx

1) I installed sphinx myself
2) I added gem 'thinking-sphinx' and bundle install
3) I open the model and at least write:

define_index do 
   indexes name
end

4) I write rake ts:index in the console and get an empty response, absolutely nothing, just a new line.
Why is that? Even before that I wrote rake ts:configure
