Why doesn't SASS/GULP respect tabs?

SASS / GULP for some reason does not observe tabulation in some places and css leaves. Why is this happening?

I've been typesetting for so many years, but I don't understand why they came up with the idea of making tabs in the output file. Sometimes I stumble upon such in projects. The file must be minified and a .map attached to it so that line breaks can be restored when viewing the source code in a browser.
