You can try:
1. disable windows firewall.
2. if you enter a domain in the corresponding connection field, try entering its netbios name (for example, instead of domain.local - just domain. There may be details like the domain for authorization looks like ourgreatdomain.internetprovider.com and the netbios domain name is ISPDOMAIN)
3. double-check all connection settings, disable unnecessary protocols (for example, sometimes it helps to turn off CHAP if your server supports MS CHAPv2 - you can go through thousands of options, here you need to know your server configuration. And without it - just experiment.
