Why doesn't Confirmation type Modal work in webform extension?

I installed the webform extension, created the form, enabled ajax, and set the Confirmation type to Modal. The modal window does not appear on successful form submission. The console does not display anything except the status of submitting the form and successfully loading the modal window (/modules/webform/js/webform.confirmation.modal.js?v=9.1.5) with status 200. Tried turning off ajax, still the same result. Maybe something is configured wrong or how to identify the error.

Hello, on fresh drupal 9 with the Bartik 9.2.0 theme, a modal works. If you are using your own theme, dig there.
