Why doesn't Chrome show embedded video on VK sites?

В самом ВК все проигрывается ок. В мозилле встроенное видео из ВК показывается, тоже, ок.
Система debian stable x64 регулярно обновлется.
Версия хрома: 56.0.2924.76 Built on 8.7.
Пробовал включать/выключать в настройках хрома hardware acceleration. Пробовал смотреть в режиме инкогнито. Не помогло.
В chrome://plugins и chrome://extensions ничего лишнего (по крайней мере отвечающего за видео) не установлено.

Потому что вы используете бета-версию (актуальная версия хромиума в репозитории - 55.0.2883.75-1~deb8u1).

в 56 хроме выключен flash.

Restrictions on playing Flash content have been introduced for all users, now it is proposed to use HTML5 by default. Flash support is no longer advertised to sites in the navigator.plugins and navigator.mimeTypes lists, and if Flash content is to be played, the user must explicitly enable Flash on a per-site basis;
