Why does WDTV Live refuse to play mkv?

A few days ago I rearranged Windows-7 - changed 32 bits to 64. After reinstalling the WDTV player refuses to play mkv files through native Windows streaming. Before reinstallation, the same files played perfectly. In Windows itself, and before, and now everything plays fine. The same mkv files from a flash drive are played on WDTV without problems. Other formats (non-mkv) the player normally plays through streaming. When trying to open mkv from the media server, the player gives an error "can not play this file". That is, something is wrong with streaming and mkv. There is a K-Lite codec pack on Windows, but there is a possibility that there was an older version before - perhaps the problem is in its settings.
I already broke my head, but I could not overcome the problem. If you have any ideas what and where to try to pick, I will be glad to hear.
A small but perhaps important clarification. WDTV not only does not play dolls, but also does not show information about files (size, time, etc.). For all other types infa is visible. That is, the problem is in the container, not in the codecs. I tried to encode the same movie in mkv and mp4 with the same settings: mp4 plays without problems, mkv does not.

@Kalobok

All figured out. The reason is that mime-types for dolls are not registered in the registry. That is, the server does not tell the client what it is sending. The necessary entries in the registry are easily googled (windows mkv registry hack) and added with one click. After a reboot everything works as it should.

Other headlines are coming.
Install HMS on Windows, even if something doesn't work right away - you can easily tweak it by turning on transcode or repacking the container.
