Why does Ubuntu consume all RAM?
A few months ago I bought a laptop and installed Ubuntu. I installed version 14.04 for less memory consumption.
Laptop x-ki: Intel Core i3-5005U (2.0 GHz) / RAM 8 GB / SSD 128 GB / Intel HD Graphics 5500
The problem is that when the browser + programs are actively working, the memory slowly comes off and reaches 80% plus or minus the system hangs and helps only hard-riset. In Windows, which I used before, usually when using memory, everything starts to work slowly but never hung in a stupor.
Buying an additional bar is the last thing. Make SWAP - not recommended for SSD.
Tell me, what can be done to prevent hanging in a stupor?

20-30 tabs in chrome, where 1-5 flow from memory and any OS will be a stake
Only changing its behavior with the browser or increasing RAM
helps make a swap - ssd has not crumbled from such things for a long time
See htop what memory eats. Even my children cannot "kill" ubuntu on a similar laptop but with 6 gigs.
