Dual boot on a laptop. After working in Windows, the touchpad breaks in Ubuntu. Why?
Input: Ubuntu 14.04 with latest updates, Windows 10 with latest updates. Laptop - Lenovo Z500, elan touchpad (I don't remember the model, I'll clarify if necessary).
The touchpad breaks like this:
- not through the settings (the button is switched, but there is no effect);
- not through the console (parameter synclient TouchpadOff does not change);
- not through a hot key (fn + F6 in my case - when everything is normal, when pressed, a notification pops up with a touchpad icon showing its status; in case of a breakdown, accordingly, nothing pops up);
the state of the touchpad does not change.
I didn’t understand the pattern, but over time everything fixes itself: either after a few days, or after several reboots from Ubuntu to Ubuntu, or after updates ... I didn’t find, in general, a pattern.
But, as soon as I boot from Windows, do my work (mostly using Autocad) and go back to Ubuntu again - the touchpad does not work...(
PS: the touchpad Indicator program is installed from the repository, but when I try to run it, it gives a system error.
PPS : I'm just new to Ubuntu, please don't scold if the question is elementary and the solution is obvious, but explain on your fingers.Thank you all in advance.

The problem is strange, of course.
Does it always turn on from a cold start (not a reboot)? I think something may be related exactly to how the reboot works. Try turning off Windows completely and then turning it back on.
Even in Windows there is such a thing as kernel hibernation. That is, the OS is not completely turned off, in the power settings it can be signed as a quick start or something like that, disabling this option will slow down Windows, but can solve the problem in Ubuntu.
