Why does the USB 2.0 EthernetAdapter slow down?

Hello I

'm tired of slow WIFI and today I bought an adapter for Mac
The box says 10mb/100mb, the provider also said 100Mb
My mother's computer with direct connection has a high speed, about 96 MB/s
I have 5MB/s with this adapter according to SpeedTest
What can be done? Maybe something is not configured correctly?
Thanks

@vilgeforce

The provider promises you 100Mb to the nearest network device, and not to any site on the Internet.

1. The provider promises you UP TO 100 megabits.
2. Not a single resource on the network is obliged to give you information at a speed of 100 megabits (including speedtest)
3. It is far from certain that your home router will digest 100 megabits of traffic.
4. The box indicates the standards by which your network card works and not the speed received by your PC. What speed you get will depend on what kind of hardware is used in the product as well as the speed of your USB port - for example, for USB2 in HS 25-480 Mbps, 480 is fantastic, but 25 is just your received 3.125 megabytes / s

Perhaps you bought a USB 1.1 adapter disguised as USB 2.0?

See what speed your network card has set there. It may turn out that 12 Mbit / s
In general, a Thunderbird network card is released for Mac, it definitely has no problems with speed
