Why does the template and Wordpress crop images and produce them?
In general, I encountered such a problem in Wordpress as a large number of unnecessary images on the hosting, each entry will carry about 5 - 8 unique images, the template and Wordpress creates a bunch of unnecessary duplicate images with different sizes
1000 * 600
1024 * 683
1036 * 380
150 * 100
300*200
540*540
740*380
768*512 and the source itself 1036*691 compressed into tinyjpg.
Questions:
1) Will it be correct to give 1 image, which is for PC, tablets and mobile devices, if the image itself is already optimized? (Perhaps I do not understand correctly why the theme and template crop images, if not right - correct me)
2) How to implement it correctly in my case, your advice or links?
Thank you for your attention !

1) No. In many cases, you don't need the whole picture. For example, you want to display a small avatar for a user. Why would you give a 1000x1000 image if the avatar is only 300x300?
2) It will be more correct to use this functionality wisely.
