Why does the page reload when inspecting an element is activated?

I select an element on any web page, right-click and select "View Code" from the context menu. An inspection window appears, but the page is reloaded and, accordingly, the focus from the selected element falls off. I hope that someone will tell you how to disable page reload at the start of element inspection.
