Why do they usually use Latin letters to enter the site, what is the reason for this? To avoid encoding problems? Is database lookup faster?

Potential problems with encoding (especially if string functions like strlen or strpos are used), as well as the appearance of "same" nicknames due to outwardly identical characters (Alex and Aleh - Russian and English letters are mixed). Many services strive for unification and order, which is right.

* Problems with fonts (for example, the login is in Chinese, and some English thread will have [][][][][])
