Why does the inverter or the backlight of the TV screen burn out because of HDMI?

TV dns, I decided to connect a laptop to it via hdmi, on the TV there are 3 connectors for hdmi, I connected it to the first one. Worked fine in the evening. In the morning, after working for 30 minutes, the image from the screen disappeared, but the sound remained. Turned off, turned on, does not work. I connected the tuner to the TV set via AV - the same thing. As a result, the repair (I don’t remember what exactly was changed, either the inverter or the backlight, but when I tried to look at the image with a flashlight, the picture was not observed, so most likely the inverter). Half a year later I connected the tuner via hdmi - the same thing happened. Repair, tried to connect to another hdmi port - again a problem, again repair. It is clear that dns is ugh ... I heard that ports are burning due to lack of grounding. Is this possible with an inverter?

No. When the inverter burns out, you can see it with a flashlight, because the inverter is just a backlight.
So until you say exactly what has changed, then no one will tell you what could have happened, just a coincidence.
Also, as Seroja has already noted none , there is such a problem as a potential difference, the problem is solved by proper grounding.

Is the cable the same in all cases? The cable may be damaged. Although it is not clear why the backlight suffers in such cases, according to the idea, the power supply should burn out or the protection would work

I would not like to swear once again, but the DNS is such a low-grade China that it will burn out not only because of the disgusting quality of components. Power surge, static, etc. - and something else.
On other devices, this happens much less frequently.

In fact, the HDMI standard does not promise secure hot plugging. The mechanism itself is present in it, but manufacturers are not obliged to do this and not many do. Therefore, when connecting an HDMI cable, you must turn off the power to both devices before connecting, otherwise both devices may go out of standby
