Why does the ElasticSearch process keep crashing?

There are about 1 million records in the elastic database, the settings are default. It crashes after some time. The ES logs are empty about this.
I tried to increase the allocated memory to 4 gigs - no effect.
Stoyals OpenJAVA, changed to Oracle JAVA - no effect.
How to determine what is wrong with ES?

Show me ulimit -a. And how do you start the server, service/manually/supervisor?
