Why does the authorization window pop up when connecting to a printer?
Hello!
Need help/advice from admins.
There are 2 computers running Windows XP SP3. Working group.
Computer1 and computer2. They are in the working group.
Computer 1. An HP Laserjet 1005 printer is connected to it and shared for public access. The local guest account is enabled. In the print permissions of the above printer - the "guest" account is also added to the ACL and it is allowed to print. The printer is connected to the computer via USB. The driver is the latest from the HP website.
Computer2. Guest account enabled. print service is working fine - tested with local printer. We also connected network printers shared on other computers - when connected to them, it does not display any authorization windows and normally connects and prints.
Task and problem: As you understand, you need to connect to computer2 to connect a network printer shared from computer1. When installing through the wizard and specifying the host name \\computer1\, an authorization window pops up. I drive in the username and password of the user or administrator, check the "save password" box that is entered on Computer1, it successfully "eats" them and the printer connects.
The network printer works fine all day long. The next day, the already installed printer does not print and says that "it was not possible to connect." When you remove the printer, reinstall it and repeat the above steps with driving in a login and password, everything starts working again. The pattern repeats itself the next morning.
I suspect "expires" "ticket"
I suspect a problem / ambush in the settings on computer1 - but I don’t know where to dig - since I already enabled the guest account, I gave permission. All the same, when connecting to a shared printer, it asks for authorization.
Maybe in local "group policies"? If yes, where exactly? In which branch and which setting?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
