Why does Symfony recommend the ROLE_ prefix?

• Each role must start with ROLE_ (otherwise things will not work as expected)
  
• Other than the above rule, a role is just a string and you can invent whatever you need (like ROLE_PRODUCT_ADMIN).
  

What can go wrong if there is no prefix?
