Why does OpenCart slow down after transferring to a new hosting?

Good afternoon!
The essence of the question is this:
Our company has long had an online store, it was small, it had about
500-1000 thousand positions. About six months ago, it began to be actively filled with goods and the question arose of expanding the hosting, we recently moved to a new hosting, in theory, everything should work better, but in fact the site began to “Slow down wildly”, can anyone encounter such a problem? Maybe somehow the site was transferred wrong !?
Engine OpenCart Version 2.0.1.1.

Have a look at the opencart debugger . It will allow you to see how many requests are made when the page loads, as well as how long the request takes.
We had problems with the load on the database on the server. Through profiling, we managed to find heavy requests and remove them, the loads immediately dropped, the brakes disappeared.
Before optimization, one page could load in 5-7 seconds.
Yes, there was a non-default theme, a considerable number of products and something wrong with the settings.
In addition to requests, something else was changed in the settings or code. I don't remember, unfortunately.

Hosting, hosting is different. Tell me, when you moved, did you just change the hoster or take more capacity?
Maybe it makes sense to take a simple VDS-ku.

shnopik87 , do tests on the following links: https://developers.google.com/speed/ and tools.pingdom.com/fpt/. The first test will tell you what can be optimized, the second will show the page loading speed of the site.

Most likely a slow drive. Choose a hosting with a normal SSD (no shaping)

In addition to problems with hosting, look at the memory - maybe everything is packed with backups to the eyeballs or some other garbage
