Why does one TV show a picture with sound via HDMI, and the other only a picture?
I bought a VGA + AUDIO → HDMI converter to connect another monitor to my laptop. The laptop only has free VGA, the TV has only HDMI inputs.
I connected the laptop to the SONY TV eight years ago - everything is fine. And the sound is, and the picture is normal.
I connect to a more or less modern SAMSUNG 5 series - there is no sound. Everything is the same, only the TV is different, but there is no sound! Other devices with the same SAMSUNG work fine with sound. And only this device does not want to sound with it.
Questions:
1) What can be the assumptions?
2) Can it be that the device generates sound with some kind of tricky codec incomprehensible to Samsung, but understandable to ancient Sonya?
