Why does my laptop drain so much in sleep mode?

There is a new laptop on which Linux Mint is installed (next to Windows). A couple of days ago I forgot to turn off the laptop before going to bed, in the morning I noticed that the laptop was normally so discharged. I decided to find out how specifically it discharges in sleep mode (suspend mode) and left it for the night. For 9 hours, the laptop was discharged by 40%. Is this number adequate? If yes, please explain why?

Try hibernation. This will help conserve battery power.
