Why does Google Earth need incoming connections from the web?

Today I saw this notification:

Before it did not happen, as far as I remember.

So what the hell?! Why does the photoglobe become a server - is it now accepting some commands from the States?

(Google Earth version is 5.2.1.1588, built on September 1 this year.)
