Why does GameDev need to know the physics of the real world if it cannot be applied in games?

Correct me if I'm wrong, I work in a completely different field and I know very little about game girls.
However, very interesting :)
It is obvious that the physics of the real world cannot be used in games. Then why should a developer know about it?
What part of physics can help develop games?
I'm only interested in research!

Physics is always needed and it is used, only in some cases in a different way. Not always the engine or program can offer what you need. For example, gravity for 3D models, water simulation, inertia, etc. Especially on prof. level and at some serious 3D project, physics should meet
