Why does Android become very slow over time?

Everyone in the world knows a simple fact - over time, an Android smartphone starts to slow down terribly.
Moreover, the hardware is not so old and deleting applications does not help.
Reinstalling the OS helps me.
I have a samsung galaxy s5.
First, there was a stock firmware, then the phone, 2 years after the release, began to slow down so that I could not just answer an incoming call!
The phone started ringing and only after 10 seconds the answer button appeared on the display.
I installed Lineage OS (android 7) for myself, after that the phone began to work instantly with lightning speed, without lags at all, and I installed all the applications that I could and did not limit myself.
A year later, the phone on Lineage OS began to slow down just as much.
I deleted almost all applications, but it still slows down.
Sometimes I have to wait 5 seconds for a tap on the screen, sometimes I can answer a call only 10-15 seconds after it starts.
It's completely disgraceful.
Experts - help to understand what the problem is?
I know that if I just demolish the entire OS now and put on it every single application that is now standing - the phone will again work with lightning speed !!
Some kind of global Android bug is obvious, which Google categorically does not want to solve.
Is there any other way to get the phone back to normal performance WITHOUT reinstalling the firmware?
Searches on the Internet did not give results, some smart people write that they say hardware is becoming obsolete, applications eat up more resources ... but this is not so, since the experiment shows that with the same set of applications and with the same version of the OS, the phone works colossally differently! (I'm talking about the fact that if you put the same OS with the same applications, then everything works with lightning speed)
Android developers, you should know the reason! Help me to understand!

If you have ever seen the source code of Android OS and the source code of the work of some Indian programmer, then you can quite guess who is to blame for the "cool" optimization of early versions of Android. With the release of more powerful hardware, many do not even worry about memory leaks and infinite loops. Works oh well... "Chief I'm all set... the program work"

... well, at least someone else noticed ...
encountered this on HTC WildfireS, SE X8, SonyE, Lenovo S820 is already starting to show up on Xiaomi S3 in a year

By my research (with Wildfire due to another but related problem) , I came to the conclusion that this is being updated by Google Play Services and the android, which is very much tied to its services, starts to slow down wildly

in my opinion:
1. not optimized code
2. as written above, a marketing ploy: "everything flies on the new" "throw away the old, buy a new one" "money for me, a bucket for you"
3. Java.
i have an android.

Well, here the problem is most likely this: you simply have something RAM, if you deleted all the applications straight away, it means that something is sitting on your phone once the reinstallation helps.
Firstly, I recommend cleaning the RAM manually, if you did it using the application, don't do it because it eats even more in the background, and if you haven't done it before, then do it. Look in Google how to remove processes (stop) applications in the phone. Turn off all possible animations on your phone if possible (unlocking the screen like opening a gate, feeling like the application is unfolding when you open it, etc.).
Also try not to install or clutter up your phone with unfamiliar applications. I don’t know how you do it, how you manage to make the phone slow down and reinstallation helps, I haven’t reinstalled Windows for 3 years, and someone manages to do it 2-3 per month (!). It will be good if you provide a list of all the applications that you have and where you downloaded it all from.
Searches on the Internet did not give results, some smart people write that they say hardware is becoming obsolete, applications eat up more resources ... but this is not so, since the experiment shows that with the same set of applications and with the same version of the OS, the phone works colossally differently! Do not beat yourself in the chest like that, it may well be because the third time you did not reinstall OC. When you decide to reinstall Android, then see what version fits your phone.
The best option is to buy a new phone if you want and can afford it.

I also noticed this feature, according to my personal observations, this is due to the lack of internal flash memory. As soon as the internal memory is clogged by 70-90 percent, it starts to slow down terribly, even the keyboard can open for 10 seconds. Deleting unnecessary data / applications / cache helps. Perhaps endless write / rewrite cycles adversely affect flash memory. At the same time, even 3D applications work fine, do not slow down, but the launch or installation itself can take a very long time.

Of course, not an expert, but an ordinary user, but still I will answer.
There can be many reasons, actually. At least the operating system itself can pollute itself with logs and temporary files, as well as other garbage.
In addition to garbage, the OS itself has a lot of extra services that are simply not needed and simply do "monkey work". For example: on my tablet, the service insistently required a SIM card and gps, which I don’t have in the model at all, but the service didn’t care. As a result, the eternal Gestapo interrogates the partisan, who himself does not know.
Google services. Sending data and more. Oddly enough, they can also use databases on the device, and the more lines, the slower the reading.
Applications themselves are also rarely optimized because they do not work for quality, but for success (they screwed up, it worked, and all right).
Solutions? I don't know, everyone has their own. For example, expelling Google from all devices helped me.

I read all the comments and realized that I did not come across this AT ALL. BUT! I use Google's Nexus line (now called Pixel) with pure Android as Google intended it, no third party skins or apps. Perhaps this is exactly the problem and Samsung, Motorola, Lenovo and other companies that hang their whistles on the OS should be blamed.
I've been on Android since 2014, bought myself a Nexus 5, went through it for 2 years, didn't reinstall anything, no cache wipes and stuff. I only sold it because Google support was ending. I bought myself the next Nexus 5X, I also use it now and I don’t know grief. Everything works quickly, as when buying. No cleaners, I just sometimes clean the cache from applications using standard OS tools through the settings. Especially Instagram caches the phone's memory after viewing photos and videos.
The main problem of those people who shout that the iPhone is the best is that they compare cheap and low-performance Android devices with an expensive iPhone. You only need to compare it with one phone - this Google Pixel / Pixel 2. These phones are from Google and the company releases them the way they intended, similar to Apple. Here is the correct comparison.
Short summary: try the latest Nexus or Pixel, if possible, will there be brakes here?

I have a galaxy s6 and every year I reinstall the service firmware with a complete removal. It also starts to slow down, the programs slow down, of course not so much, but the microfreezes of the interface are terribly infuriating.

Plus, I see this too.
Phone - Motorola (one of the latest models before lenovization) with almost pure Android 6. While it was new, everything could be said to fly, despite the generally budget hardware. After ~ 2 years after the purchase - tupit so that trynets. Switching between applications (for example, from a browser to share a link to a messenger, or vice versa from a messenger to open a browser) takes about 5 seconds by eye. This is exactly the switch, not taking into account the download time already further.

Therefore, I always use the eplu technique.
On Windows, there has always been suffering - glitches, brake viruses.
On iOS, everything is fine - except for perhaps the annoying reminder to upgrade.
The overall design of the system is better, everything is better, and the pain is minimal.

Hello. Once asked a related question about Android optimization How to remove applications from startup on Android?
As a result, no one knows anything, although there should be a lot of Android developers here. Brakes out of the blue got. I did not find real advice from the network.

The problem, apparently, is, on the one hand, in the RAM manager of the axis itself, and on the other, in the developers' disregard for leaks (although this attitude may be due to problems directly in the android itself and the inability to fix leaks). Accordingly, we will have a slow device, regardless of the amount of RAM, which will work well only when it is clean, that is, without an abundance of installed applications that have been opened at least once and, accordingly, have received some kind of priority in the memory manager.

In my opinion, this question raises the problem of OpenSource and the public domain, namely: Name at least one Axis for smartphones that is not dependent on a commercial organization!
Android - Google (a company, not a community)
iOS - Apple
Windows - Microsoft
That's the problem - if people made Axis for themselves , it would work for the benefit of the end user, not the manufacturer's company.

I also use this model of gnusmas. The first phone I had was Jiayu G3, which, due to the design features and software, ate the battery like crazy. Therefore, on the new phone, I refused Google services, which I could reach - turned it off, no accounts and synchronization, except for explicit ones - mail mail + Jasmine ICQ, installed an office, installed a reader, a standard browser, media - too, and a couple of tracking software zhor battery and collect statistics on this zhor. Before the first reset, the system lived for 3 years without lagging, then it was updated to the 6th standard addroid from the 5th and had to repeat the whole way again. Only the mailer is updated regularly, and the standard browser. A browser without crashes on 2GB of RAM keeps 30+ pages in memory ... maybe this is not the limit, but I don’t load it. IMHO - the more software, the more battery life and less mobility. We need to look for compromises.

they write that they say hardware is becoming obsolete, applications are eating more resources

Oh, yes ... How many times have I re-read such thoughts when I was trying to understand the reason for the slowdown of my phone ...
But the questions are why the on-screen keyboard appears 10 seconds after tapping on the input field, why the screen turns on 5 seconds after pressing the ON button , and why the browser takes 30 seconds to be able to start writing a request in the address bar, remained unanswered. And if there is an update of applications, then it is better not to use the phone at all temporarily.
The device Honor 5X, 8 cores + 2 GB RAM, and sometimes behaves as if the core is one and its clock speed is 40 MHz.
I do not believe in a "bookmark" in the firmware from the manufacturer, which disables all cores except one in a year from the date of purchase.
And I also don’t believe in the connection between the amount of free memory and lags, especially with free 3 GB out of 16 GB internal and 5 GB out of 29 GB external.
There must be a specific reason for the brakes. But, unfortunately, I did not find performance analyzers of operating system bottlenecks for android.
By the way, a complete reset of the phone to the factory settings and reinstallation of the same set of applications also helped me for a couple of months. Worked smartly, but then everything came back.
There is a suspicion of a tired memory card: my card is four years old, if not more.
