Why does adsense create empty space in code place?

On this and all other pages, there is an empty block at the top.
The adsense code was installed only today and the site is not approved yet, also turned off the display of automatic ads.
Prior to that, there was adsense of the previous owner of the site. Took it off today.
Why does this block appear?
