Why does a simple application weigh so much?

I created a small application with a couple of pictures and text and it weighs almost 17 MB. Why does it weigh so much, compared to other applications that have a lot of data. If I also create activities and upload a couple of pictures, then it will weigh in general 100Mb. Why!?

No. Growth is not linear.
A relatively large "base" is included in your application.
