Why does a laptop with a new RAM not boot?

Toshiba l500-1wp laptop. There was a 2x2 RAM, I installed a new 2x4. In the BIOS comes all the settings are clicked. When you try to boot from a hard drive / flash drive, a black screen hangs with a non-blinking input cursor, there is no indication of disk / flash drive operation, it heats up - it increases the fan speed.
