Why do WinServer updates ruin my applications?

I installed a couple of network monitoring programs in a VM (Windows Server 2012). Everything worked fine. But after rebooting the VM and applying some updates, the programs do not respond.
In particular D-View 7 writes: "Error. System.Web.HttpUnhandledException. Source: mscorlib".
PRTG just doesn't load the start page.
I have a checkpoint of the moment when everything was OK. I download it and can use my programs, but it's worth rebooting the machine and installing updates, after which the monitoring utilities do not work. Tried this scenario three times.
Automatic installation of Windows updates is disabled.

and if you stir up a new VM, install windows server 2012, roll all the updates, and then install the "problematic" software?
