Why do people use pygame and stuff like that to make games?

The question is:
Why, why are there frameworks for creating desktop games (for example, pygame) for high-level languages like python, is someone really doing really serious (real) projects on them? Or is it more used as a prototyping or hobby project?

It depends on what you mean by "serious (real) projects".
Basically, frameworks for high-level languages are used in the development of mobile games or small 3D applications, such as visualization of something (on such things it is sometimes easier and faster to make them than taking a drawing library).
Also for teaching game programming and programming in general.
Mafia 4 or GTA 6, of course, cannot be written on such frameworks and no one will do it.

Any games are in demand, up to pixel snakes directly on OpenGL, and moreover, it is serious people who often have serious and difficult work, which every day requires imagination and so on, and in the evening it simply won’t be left to play a game with a complex exciting gameplay and will not be interesting, but a scroll shooter or a platformer like Mario or Alawar games is a completely different matter, so these are quite serious games for serious people, in general, in any field it is very important to have a broad outlook and not measure everyone with your ruler.

I got acquainted with Pygame because there is simply no analogue for C. There are examples, and docks. For C - even the creation of a window is a secret with seven seals (certainly not for those who "boil in it") for beginners. Just launched and works. Of course, not without ambiguities, but there are much fewer of them than in C.
