Why do miners need video cards and digital currency?

Good afternoon!

Why do miners buy video cards in batches if there are ASIC chips specially for them? And in general, why do we need bitcoins, etc., if they can’t be exchanged for a “normal” currency for good?

For bitcoin, there really are asics, and only on them does it make sense to mine it.
Asics cannot be created for Etherium and a number of other cryptocurrencies, which is why video cards are used.

Exchange. There are cryptocurrency exchanges that allow you to exchange one crypto for another and sell / buy it for normal money.
