Why do icons and labels disappear in windows 10?

Windows 10 home. When I go to applications such as paint, photoshop, wordpad, etc., I select fonts (to change), icons, inscriptions, names on the desktop disappear instead of white, black. I tried to reset the default fonts through the windows settings - to no avail, I checked for viruses, they are not there. You have to restart your computer.
