Why do developers write, for example, in html + css, and do not use constructors?

Somehow there was a skirmish with a guy who asked what engine I was using.
I replied that none. He says: -Child, read about wix.
I don’t even know how to argue that the constructors are shit, and the development is such a super-class.
Maybe someone will tell?

Ask him if he can create a habr on the constructor.
For simple landings without a unique design, you can indeed use designers. Constructors are good for doing generic things.

Install and turn on NVDA (if Windows) or turn on VoiceOver (if Mac) and offer to manage any site made on wix with the monitor turned off, relying only on the sound from these programs.
And yes, many handmade sites also suffer from inconvenient management, but the developer of such a site has at least the opportunity to do this conveniently, but there is no such possibility on wix.
Well, as already said, doing something serious will not work either.

1. All of the above.
2. https://proweb63.ru/help/how-to-start-development-...
3. Constructors are convenient for quickly launching sales (goods, services) and for direct. Because they (constructors) are not sharpened for SEO, no matter how they improve their ecosystem there.
3.1 Constructors are not flexible in terms of modifying non-trivial functionality.
3.2 The site made on the constructor belongs to the service on which it was made, and the service will do whatever it wants with it.
3.3. Development on the constructor is sometimes more expensive. Look at service rates.
The reason for the populism of designers in the Russian Federation and the CIS is that users are stupid and want freebies, as a result they overpay.

There are no such concepts as "shit" and "super-class" in the development. There is a technology suitable for the task and not suitable, and there are a lot of criteria, for example: development speed, development cost, fault tolerance, scalability and functionality additions, support cost.
In general, a very strange "hassle" happened to you, one advises the designer "for housewives", and the other has no arguments in favor of the fact that this tool does not suit him.
You had to give examples of the tasks you are solving and prove that these tasks cannot be implemented using wix, and if this is not the case, then perhaps the adviser was right in your case?

The difference is what code is "under the hood", the constructor allows, for example, to make a button a link when there is a specific tag for it and imagine a lot of such oversights, in other words, hands are untied, we can control the code and this is a huge plus. As mentioned above - we can implement many ideas, not just typical ones, thanks to the knowledge of html + css, when constructors solve more general tasks

Let the analogue of booking.com be done on the constructor.

Development is seen on the Frameworks, the rest is ready-made solutions.

Constructors are good for testing ideas - will it work or not, will it sell or not.
We quickly sculpt a landing page on the constructor and immediately pour paid traffic on it - if a product or service sells well, then it makes sense to invest in a normal website, SEO and marketing. If there are no sales, then in a month we close everything, while the loss in money will be small.
On the constructor, a normal site with a good loading speed, highly rated by search engines and with the necessary marketing features cannot be done.
