Why do 3d applications crash when loading video memory?
Good afternoon.
I bought myself an RX 580 4gb Sapphire Pulse (new, from the city link)
In some toys, with a certain load of video memory (3.5 -3.7 GB), applications crash. They crash either with a Windows error (the system does not have enough memory), or without errors, they just close.
For example:
GTA 5 - everything is set to the maximum, the intro of the game goes through, and when loading the next part, it crashes with the error "The system does not have enough memory"
AC Odyssey - everything is fine at low settings, when consuming more than 3.5 GB of video memory in the settings, or the built-in benchmark does not launches and the game crashes without errors, or the benchmark launches and the game crashes with an error after a few seconds.
I tried checking with MSI Kombuster (3rd version, there is a memory benchmark there) - when testing 2GB - everything is fine, 3GB - everything is fine, 4GB - stress test crashes before it starts.
The temperatures on the card at this moment are normal, it passes the furmark for 15 minutes well, it does not heat up more than 70-72 degrees.
The rest of the configuration:
Ryzen 5 1600 with a slight overclock at 200 mHz
RAM - 8gb with one AMD Radeon bar, running at 2800 mHz
Power supply - Thermaltake TR2 S 550W.
Tell me, can anyone come across such a problem - maybe it's the drivers being naughty, or have I already come across my own video card, on which the memory falls off?
