Why didn't the ads disappear from the site after removing adsense?

I linked my Adsense account to my WordPress site. I added a plugin to the site, after activation I immediately disabled it. A couple of days later, an advertisement appeared on the site that I essentially did not add. As a result, the adsense account was canceled, but the ads are still on the site. What could be the problem

Either the cache, if there is any plugin,
or the plugin itself was with a backdoor / trojan.
