Why did Mirasol and Memory LCD technologies die out?

Judging by the presentations, the Mirasol technology was quite interesting, as was the Memory LCD technology, which, by the way, was used in Pebble watches. The first technology, apparently, did not have any commercial success at all. What are your thoughts on this?
