Why did clipboard sync stop working in X11 on Mac OS?

Actually, clipboard synchronization in X11 on Mac OS suddenly stopped working, before everything was fine. Settings poked, everything is included. Pasting in X11 works, but copying doesn't.
I did not notice a clear moment when it stopped working. Probably after an X11 update.
Where to dig?
PS Mac OS 10.9, X11 2.7.5

In general, fixing file permissions on the disk and restarting X11 did the trick.
