Why can't I sniff traffic from my laptop?

I tried to intercept traffic from the router through my laptop, but it showed packets only from my laptop. Just tried from another laptop and everything is fine there. The problem, as I understand it, is in the network card? And is there any way to fix this? Notebook Dell Inspiron 5737.
