Why can't I see files on the flash drive?

There was a virus on the flash drive with files, it was deleted via nod32, now the files are not visible on the flash drive, although it is 40% busy.
Turned on the option to show hidden files - did not help.
What to do?

No matter how they hide, they can always be pulled out into the light using utilities like R-Studio, Recuva or similar. Unless, of course, something else was written over them.
